PRIVACY POLICY

1. WHAT WE COLLECT

Location data: Your postal code or GPS coordinates, used to find nearby stores. Stored locally on your device only — never sent to our servers except as part of a store lookup request.

Push notification token: If you enable price alerts, your device's push token is sent to our server so we can deliver notifications when a tracked price drops.

Shopping lists & alerts: Stored locally on your device. We do not have access to your list contents.

Search queries: Forwarded to retailer APIs in real time to fetch prices. Not logged or stored on our servers.

Community error reports: When you flag a price or store error ("Verified by Shoppers"), we send the report details (the product, the store, the price shown, and — only if you type it — the price you saw) together with a random per-install identifier used to prevent spam. That identifier is generated on your device, resets when you clear app data, and is never your name, email, account, or a device/advertising ID. Reports are anonymous and not linked to you.

2. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

Sentry: Collects crash reports and anonymised diagnostic data (device model, OS version, app version, stack trace). No personal identifiers are linked to crash reports.

PostHog: Collects anonymised in-app events (e.g. search performed — including the search text — or deal viewed) to understand feature usage. No name, email, or precise location is linked to these events. You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings.

Google AdMob: Serves banner ads. Ads are shown by default and can be turned off at any time in Settings. We request non-personalised ads only; AdMob may still collect your device advertising identifier (GAID) and coarse location. Where required by law (for example in the European Economic Area), we ask for your consent before any ads are requested.

Google Maps SDK: Displays store locations on a map. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

RevenueCat: Manages subscriptions if you upgrade to PriceBite Pro.

Expo Push Service: Relays push notifications to your device.

Pattison Food Group (Save-On-Foods, Urban Fare, PriceSmart Foods, Quality Foods): When this is turned on for these chains and one of their stores is among your selected stores, your device asks Pattison's shared grocery site (storefrontgateway.saveonfoods.com), which Save-On-Foods, Urban Fare, PriceSmart Foods and Quality Foods all use, for prices directly, instead of our server asking on your behalf. It sends the search words, including the names of items on your shopping lists and price alerts and of products you scanned when those screens refresh their prices, the ID of the store you selected for that chain, and your device's IP address, which any website you visit also receives. No cookies are kept or sent with these requests, and no account or advertising identifier is sent. Pattison's own privacy policy governs what they do with it.

3. WHAT WE DO NOT COLLECT

We do not collect your name, email, or any account credentials — there is no PriceBite account system. We do not sell data to third parties.

4. DATA RETENTION

Push notification tokens are deleted from our server when you disable alerts or use "Delete account" in Settings. Community error reports are stored so we can re-check and improve our price data; they carry no personal identifiers and are not linked to you. Crash and analytics data are retained by Sentry and PostHog per their own policies.

5. DELETING YOUR DATA

There is no PriceBite account to delete. Use Settings → Delete account (or uninstall the app) to remove everything stored on your device and reset the anonymous report identifier; this also deletes your push token. Disabling price alerts removes the token too. Community error reports are anonymous — no name, account, or device identifier — so they hold nothing personal to delete.

6. YOUR RIGHTS (CANADA – PIPEDA / QUEBEC LAW 25)

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information we hold by contacting getpricebite@gmail.com — we respond within 30 days. You can disable analytics and ads at any time in Settings.

7. CHILDREN

PriceBite is not directed at children under 13.

8. CHANGES

We may update this policy. For material changes we will notify you in the app before they take effect. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
