Questions
Is PriceBite free?
Yes. Free to download and free to use, with no account, no subscription and no paid tier. One small banner ad keeps the server on.
How do you get the prices?
From the stores' own public websites and weekly flyers, the same pages you would open in a browser, read slowly and cached. No accounts, no logins.
How current are the prices?
They are the prices the stores list this week, sale or regular, and each one shows how old it is. A price can lag the shelf, most often at the start of a new flyer week, so treat it as a strong signal and check the shelf tag.
Why is Metro, Food Basics or Super C missing?
Not covered yet. Their sites are not something the app reads today. If that changes, they will appear the same week.
Do I have to share my location?
No. Location finds the stores around you automatically; you can type a postal code instead and pick your stores on the map.
Why Android only?
Android first because it is one developer and one platform to get right. iPhone is planned; leave your email above and you will hear once, when it ships.
Won't the chains object?
The prices are the ones the stores publish for anyone to see, and the app reads them the way a browser does, with rate limits. If a chain asked to be left out, it is a one-line configuration change and would be done the same day.
